Dr. Mayank Gupta discusses spinal cord stimulation for abdominal pain. Neuromodulation therapy for individuals with abdominal pain may be a promising therapy option for this challenging type of pain. Nerve blocks simply do not last long enough for these patients. Nerve blocks can be helpful though. Psychogenic factors cannot be discounted either. Studies from both Dr. Gupta and his colleagues supports the use of neuromodulation of the spinal cord for abdominal pain.
