BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Buenaventura obtained his medical degree at Tulane University Medical School in New Orleans and completed an anesthesiology residency at Northwestern University Medical Center in Chicago.
Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Buenaventura served on active duty in the U.S. Air Force. He served as a staff anesthesiologist and pain management physician at Wright-Patterson USAF Medical Center. Dr. Buenaventura directed the Anesthesia Pain Management Clinic where he received the Meritorious Service Medal and the Air Force Commendation Medal.

After an honorable discharge, he completed a fully accredited, one-year pain medicine fellowship at The Ohio State University Medical Center and the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. He gained additional experience in advanced pain techniques as well as the treatment of cancer pain. Dr. Buenaventura also received extensive training in implantable spinal technologies, particularly spinal cord stimulation. He has introduced prolotherapy, platelet rich plasma (PRP) and regenerative medicine therapies to the Dayton area.

Dr. Buenaventura has published several articles related to the field of pain management in national journals. He is currently involved in lecturing to and training other physicians in interventional pain management techniques.

He is also involved in advocacy for pain management at the national and local levels for the benefit of all patients suffering from chronic pain. He is the current president of the Ohio Society of Interventional Pain Physicians.
